The First 10 Days
What a whirlwind!
First things first, I had to get the infrastructure correct. I'm in love with MagicJack. It starts paying you back after the 2nd month, sends voice mails to your e-mail as .wav files and they play on my iPhone. eFax all the way, naturally. They too send your faxes to your e-mail, attached as .pdf's. I switched to GMail to consolidate my multiple e-mail accounts, and contain my calendars and contacts in one place. Fetch and pull are on, so I can run everything from my iPhone. It took one day to set all of this up, one day to set up my databases.
I did my first e-mail blast. It was to potential speakers. The replies were great and I'm working diligently to get back to every person who responded.
It takes about 20-45 minutes to put one speaker up on the site. I could have gone the eSpeakers route and populated iSpeaking instantly, but felt control of content was too important of an issue to share. Plus, there are many added features that require extra time, such as the Learn How section and Articles. The individual, unique, personal approach has been best in getting to know the talent.
Gotta run, perpetually prospecting.
